I Am Now A 3ds Max and V-Ray for 3ds Max Certified Professional/Trainer

Certification’s are pretty common in most industries, but I never thought 3D Animators would be eligible for them.

Last year, I was tested for a V-Ray Professional certification as well as a Licensed V-Ray Trainer.  This week, I tested for the Autodesk 3ds Max Professional certification.  I was able to pass it on my first try which, apparently according to the testing facility, 75% of people fail it on their first try.  I guess that real world experience really helps.

This certification will allow me to really help people when dealing with 3ds Max.  I am already certified and licensed for V-Ray for Max but having that little extra something to help with the 3ds max part will be vital.  I’ve been using both programs for years now and have a huge understanding on how it all works, what it can and cannot do, and how to improve.  3ds Max is a very powerful program that can do just about anything you need it to do in regards to 3D.

In a normal work day, I use 3ds Max for modeling, animating, material creation, as well as rigging.  It’s really a one stop shop.  I have used some other 3d programs before.  When I was in college I learned Maya, which is also made by Autodesk.

I tried out Blender a few times and I’ve also had a personal interest in MODO from The Foundry.  So far, I have the most mileage and experience with 3ds Max and I’ve created some pretty impressive things.

Here are a few images I’ve done with 3ds Max and V-Ray.

3ds Max TK_01This is a microscopic view of the Retina cells of an eyeball for a medical animation.
3ds Max TK_02This is a close-up of the eyeball itself from the same medical animation.
3ds Max TK_03This scene was created to highlight the unit against the wall.
3ds Max TK_05I’m a big Android and Nexus smartphone fan so naturally I recreated my phone in 3ds Max and then rendered it through V-Ray.

One of the best things about working in 3D is that you can take any idea and make it come to life in any style you can imagine.  I specialize in photorealism so that’s what’s fun to me.  I’m hoping I can share my knowledge and excitement about 3D animation and 3ds Max with you more often! 😀 Thank you for stopping by!
